"Charlotte!" the lock called.
"Edward?" she called back.
"I have something to tell you, before you get turned into me." The person's hand was digging around in his pocket for the key, and had just found it.
"After all these years I've fallen in love with you! I can't ignore these feelings any longer, I love you!" The lock desperately called out his feelings as Charlotte was being turned.
"What?" Charlotte called back, shocked.
The family member dropped his key back into his pocket, ending the conversation between them. Charlotte wondered all night about Edward, and came to the conclusion she loved him too. She couldn't ignore it anymore, he had always been there for her as long as she could remember. He was the best lock she'd ever known, how could she pass up this opportunity? The next day the family member returned from school, Charlotte called out, "Edward I love you too! I always have!"
"Oh Charlotte, stay with me forever!"
At that moment the family member in possession of her put Charlotte in the lock. She refused to move. He cursed as he couldn't get into his house, but Charlotte and Edward refused to move. He had to call a locksmith, and since both refused to move the locksmith removed the entire lock fixture with the key still stuck inside, and threw them in the trash. He installed a new lock that day.
"My love, we're no longer apart of a door, but we can finally be together as one," Edward whispered. Charlotte and Edward happily lived together in a dumpster for the remainder of their years.

This was a cute story, but it could use a few more details. -Breanne
